Cooking Classes in Kandy

Learn to cook is Sri Lankan way when you are in your most important travel destination – Kandy, also known as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, a world heritage city, vibrant and historically significant city nestled in the hills of the country’s central province.

Cooking Classes are specially tailored for the foreign travelers with an interest to learn how to cook Sri Lankan traditional food and is geared to groups of eight or more. The demonstrations are based on creating dishes, simply and easily, using fresh local organically grown vegetables and ingredients.

  • 3 sessions per day ( one session is three and a half hour )
    9 am – 12.30 pm / 1 pm – 4.30 pm / 5 pm – 8.30 pm
  • Maximum 40 participants per session
  • A market visit to buy goods is there as an optional activity

 

In Group classes we teach you how to prepare Sri Lankan Rice and Curry. We can arrange individual lessons for other varieties of food other than Sri Lanka Rice and Curry.

Kandy City Tour by AGS Tours

The first stop on the Kandy city tour is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa. This temple houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha and is considered one of the holiest places for Buddhists around the world. Visitors can witness the intricate architecture, stunning wall paintings, and experience the spiritual atmosphere that surrounds the temple.

Next, we visit the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. Spread over 147 acres, these gardens are a paradise for nature lovers. Here, you can explore a vast collection of plants, trees, and flowers from various regions of the world. The gardens also house an orchid house, a spice garden, and a beautiful avenue of royal palms.

Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda was built in the 19th century by the last king of Sri Lanka. It provides a serene and picturesque setting for a leisurely walk or a boat ride. The surrounding area offers stunning views of the city and the hills beyond.

Continuing the tour, we visit the Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue. This towering white statue of Lord Buddha stands at a height of 88 feet and overlooks the city of Kandy. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the cityscape and the lush greenery that surrounds it.

To delve deeper into the history of Kandy, we visit the National Museum of Kandy. Housed in the former palace of the Kandyan kingdom, this museum showcases a collection of artifacts and exhibits that depict the rich cultural heritage of the region. Visitors can learn about the ancient rulers, traditional arts and crafts, and the historical significance of Kandy.

Finally, we conclude the city tour with a visit to a traditional cultural show. This vibrant performance showcases traditional dance forms, music, and rituals that have been passed down through generations. It offers a glimpse into the rich cultural traditions of Sri Lanka and provides a memorable experience for visitors.
